EDHS DIGITAL AND MEDIA ARTS PROGRAMS


The El Dorado High School Digital and Media Arts Academy consists of three separate disciplines -


  1. -VIDEO PRODUCTION

  2. -PHOTOGRAPHY

  3. -ANIMATION 


All three programs are currently developing curriculum that will offer students opportunities to earn certification in professional software applications like APPLE’S FINAL CUT PRO, ADOBE PHOTOSHOP and FLASH as well as college and professional career pathways.

MORE HONORS FOR “LOVE VIGILANTES”


Libby Blood’s LOVE VIGILANTES is an official selection at the upcoming Newport Beach Film Festival (her screening date is April 25th) and the prestigious GI Film Festival in Washington D.C. (May 12-16)


2010 HARVARD-WESTLAKE FILM FESTIVAL


March 19, 2010 - Libby Blood’s LOVE VIGILANTES earned the award for CINEMATOGRAPHY at the 2010 Harvard Westlake Film Festival.  The 7th HW Film Festival was held at the Arclight Theater in Hollywood and the awards were presented by 3 time Academy Award nominee Jason Reitman (Juno, Up In The Air) and Kathryn Bigelow (2010 Best Director and Best Picture THE HURT LOCKER)


BEST NEWS BROADCAST IN ORANGE COUNTY


El Dorado’s weekly school news broadcast show HAWK TALK was named the BEST NEWS BROADCAST for 2010 by the Orange County Journalism in Education Association.  Reporters Jason Kramer, Steven Warmbier, Macy Walp and Tony Sherg also earned awards from OCJEA.

2010 HARVARD-WESTLAKE FILM FESTIVAL


March 19, 2010 - Libby Blood’s LOVE VIGILANTES earned the award for BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY at the 2010 Harvard Westlake Film Festival.  The 7th HW Film Festival was held at the Arclight Theater in Hollywood and the awards were presented by 3 time Academy Award nominee Jason Reitman (Juno, Up In The Air)  Kathryn Bigelow (2010 Best Director and Best Picture THE HURT LOCKER) and Reitman spoke to the film makers to open the evening.


2010 OC FILM FESTIVAL HONORS


The Orange County Film Festival was held January 2nd in Irvine, California.


El Dorado students earned 4 awards at the 2010 OC Film Festival.  Student Libby Blood earned the awards for BEST EDITOR and BEST PRODUCER for her music video LOVE VIGILANTES.  The BEST ACTOR award was also given to a member of the cast of LOVE VIGILANTES.  Jason Kramer’s DVD Yearbook Trailer X also won the award for BEST TRAILER.

2009 NEWPORT BEACH FILM FESTIVAL


EDHS Animation students Cassie Arneal and Monica Johnson had an entry UNDER THE FULL MOON that was screened last April at the 2009 Newport Beach Film Festival as part of the YOUTH SHOWCASE.


2009 HARVARD - WESTLAKE FILM FESTIVAL


On Friday, March 20th, EDHS Video Production student Josh Dixon was honored at the 6th Annual Harvard-Westlake Film Festival at the Arclight Theater on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood.  Josh’s music video for “Thriller” earned the “Lizzy” Award for Cinematography.  The award was presented by 2 time Oscar winner for Best Actor Tom Hanks.  150 films were submitted to this year’s festival and 13 films were screened at the Arclight.


2009 ORANGE COUNTY FILM FESTIVAL HONORS


El Dorado won 5 awards at the OC Film Festival held on Saturday, January 3rd, 2009 at Northwood High School.  “Thriller” was named BEST MUSIC VIDEO and “Wizard Remnant” was named BEST SHORT FILM.  Josh Dixon was honored as BEST DIRECTOR for his work on “Wizard Remnant.”  Also, Janell LeFrancois, Nader Vaziri and Josh Dixon were named BEST PRODUCERS and Lexi Kupratis was named BEST ACTOR for their work on “Thriller.”


El Dorado Advanced Video Production Students earned 17 overall nominations including all the individual awards.  EDHS student Josh Dixon was honored with 9 individual nominations.  Last year, we had 12 total nominations.
